Size: 4.5 inches (11 cm)
Habitat: Deciduous woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens
Feeding: Mostly aphids and insects but some fruit and seeds
Eggs: 7 - 13 white eggs with red/brown spots
laid from late April - May, incubation 13 - 14 days

The blue tit is a common garden bird in the UK feeding regularly on bird tables and utilising garden nesting boxes.


It is very distinctive with a yellow chest, blue/green back and wings, blue crown and white cheeks. Both sexes have the same colouring.
