Great Willowherb

The great willowherb has larger flowers than the broad-leaved willowherb. They are pink/purple with a prominent four-lobed, white stigma. The flowers are up to 2 cms diameter. The flowers are followed by hairy seed pods which open to release fluffy seeds when ripe.

The stems are covered in small hairs. The leaves are long, narrow and serrated.

This flower thrives in wet conditions, by streams, ponds and marshland.
