Japanese Quince

Japanese Quince, sometime called Japonica, actually originated in China.

It is a tall spiny shrub with dark green, glossy leaves. The flowers are red and cup-shaped, about 3 cms diameter, comprising six petals. These are followed by small apple-like fruits. It provides interesting colour in the garden early in the year.
