Honey Bee

Honey Bee Swarm - Apis mellifera Apis mellifera

Length: Workers: 0.5" (12 mm)
Queens & Drones: 0.6" (16 mm)
Family: Apidae

One evening, I was looking out the kitchen window and saw what looked like a plastic bag hanging from one of the trees in the garden. It had not been there earlier, so I went out to investigate.

It was a swarm of honey bees!

I called a local beekeeper who was happy to come and collect it. She was very helpful and explained a lot about these amazing creatures.
