Green Woodpecker (Male) |
|
|
The green woodpecker is very colourful, especially in
springtime. It has a bright red crown, green back,
greenish/buff underparts and yellowish rump. The male has a
red stripe under its eye and the female has a black stripe.
The green woodpeckers are seen in our garden every day eating
ants on the lawn unlike the
great spotted
woodpecker which is more often seen in trees or eating
nuts on the bird feeder. |
